The Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani Museum officially opened the “Morocco: The Land of Travelers,” an exhibition celebrating Morocco’s rich cultural heritage, as part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, according to ILoveQatar.Net.
This initiative, launched in 2012 by Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, promotes cultural exchange and deepens cross-cultural understanding. The exhibition, featuring over 70 artifacts from the museum’s collection, will run until February 2025.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani and other prominent Qatari figures, with Moroccan Ambassador Mohamed Setri, UNESCO representatives, and cultural leaders.
Speaking at the event, Sheikh Faisal stated that the exhibition’s aim to showcase Morocco’s historical and cultural legacy, highlighting the profound ties between the two nations.
The exhibition is divided into three sections—Morocco, the Multicolored House of Generosity, Morocco Writes History, and the Atlas Lions. These themes explore Morocco’s unique cultural identity, its influence on global civilizations, and its rich historical narratives.
Ambassador Setri expressed gratitude to Sheikh Faisal for his commitment to cultural diplomacy, emphasizing how the exhibition underscores the strong bonds between Qatar and Morocco. “This event reflects the richness, diversity, and authenticity of Moroccan culture,” he noted, calling it a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral ties.
The Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture has seen remarkable enthusiasm from public and private entities. Sara Al Mohannadi, Secretary of the National Committee for the Years of Culture, lauded the initiative’s success in celebrating the enduring relationship between the two nations. Mona El Helbawi, General Manager of multinational conglomerate “ARIES Group,” praised the exhibition’s role in deepening appreciation for Moroccan heritage, describing it as a platform for exploring the country’s lasting global influence.
Morocco: The Land of Travelers serves as a cultural bridge, reflecting shared values while inviting visitors to immerse themselves in Morocco’s diverse legacy. The exhibition remains open at the Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani Museum’s Great Hall until February 2025.
Qatar-Morocco 2024 year of culture included several cultural celebrations and ceremonies, including the exhibition of Moroccan Berber Jewelery in Museum of Islamic Art in Doha featuring Berber, the “Jedari Art”- Graffiti Art- exhibition, and the exhibition of Moroccan stamps, coins, and paper money at Cultural Village Foundation-Katara.
