The Years of Culture initiative unveiled the autumn program for “Qatar-Morocco 2024” on Tuesday, featuring diverse cultural activities.
The Qatar National Library will host a conference and workshop on the history and use of the astrolabe on September 30. Another conference on Morocco’s history through its archives will take place on October 7.
The Doha Film Institute will screen four contemporary Moroccan films during the “Moroccan Mosaics” event from October 10 to 12, including “House in the Fields” by Taha Hadid, “MICA” by Ismaël Ferroukhi, “Fragments from Heaven” by Adnane Baraka, and “Indivision” by Leila Kilani.
The Katara Cultural Village will hold the Katara Arab Novel Festival from October 13 to 20, honoring Moroccan novelist Tuhami Al-Wazzani as the “Personality of the Year.” The festival will also feature a book fair and workshops for families.
The Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar will host the exhibition “Splendors of the Atlas: A Journey through Morocco’s Heritage” from November 2 to March 8, 2024, showcasing over 200 items, including artifacts, manuscripts, instruments, jewelry, and photographs.
“Ektashif: Morocco,” running from November to February, will present works by seven Qatari artists who participated in an educational journey to Marrakech as part of the “Qatar-Morocco 2024” initiative.
On November 6, the Qatar National Library will host an exhibition on the evolution of books in Morocco. Additionally, a conference on the historic Qarawiyyin library will be held on November 13, followed by a concert by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra on December 4.
The Ajyal Film Festival will celebrate the cultural year with a series of Moroccan short films from November 16 to 23, and the Katara Children’s Festival will offer entertainment activities from November 23 to 25. The “Crafting Design Future” exhibition will run from November 30 to January 1 at the Museum of Islamic Art.
In Morocco, the Ajyal Film Club will hold screenings from September 20 to 22, while the Marrakech Short Film Festival will run from September 27 to October 2, featuring short films from the Doha Film Institute’s “Made in Qatar” program.
The El Jadida Horse Show, from October 1 to 6, will celebrate the shared passion for horses between Qatar and Morocco.
Rabat will host the penultimate round of the Longines World Show Jumping Championship and the Global Champions Tour from October 18 to 20, in partnership with the “Years of Culture” initiative. Rabat will also see the Qatar-Morocco International Volunteer Trip from October 18 to 26.
The upcoming edition of the Photography Journey, from October 7 to 17, will feature two female Qatari photographers traveling to Morocco to capture scenes from different regions of the Kingdom.
Three Qatari artists will collaborate with three Moroccan artists in Rabat in October to create traveling artworks as part of the “Jedari Art” program.
The 6th edition of Fashion Trust Arabia will take place from October 22 to 24 in Marrakech, while the Qatar-Africa Business Forum is set for November 16 and 17.
The “Knowledge Transfer Event” will be held in November, along with the “She Plays” women’s football tournament.
In anticipation of Morocco co-hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup, Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, in collaboration with the Qatar Football Federation, will hold an expert exchange meeting with Moroccan counterparts to share lessons from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
