Raja Casablanca football team has officially appointed Bosnian coach Rusmir Cviko to take charge of the team, replacing German coach Josef Zinnbauer, the club announced on X.
The former coach of Saudi club Al-Orouba arrived in Morocco on Thursday to finalize negotiations and sign the contracts.
The coach was accompanied by members of his technical staff, along with physical trainer Omar Ben Ouanes and assistant coach Abdelkarim Jnaini.
Interim president Adil Hala signed the contract for Raja. He was appointed to the post last Saturday by the club’s board of directors a few days after the arrest in Germany of former Raja president Mohammed Boudrika.
Zinnbauer announced his departure from Raja on Tuesday, after leading the team to double victory in the Botola Pro and the Throne Cup last season.
Cviko previously coached Chinese clubs Meizhou Hakka and Dalian Transcendence, as well as Bosnian club FK Željezničar Sarajevo. With the latter, he won the Bosnian championship three times and the Bosnian Cup twice.
He also worked as an assistant coach for the Bosnian national team and the Bosnian youth team, and was a former international midfielder.
