Moroccan coach Houcine Ammouta has signed a deal with AS FAR to lead the Rabat-based club next season, BeIN Sport reported.
While not yet confirmed by AS FAR, the Qatari sports channel reported that Ammouta would take over as the club’s next head coach, succeeding Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi.
AS FAR reportedly inked the deal even before his recent departure from the Jordanian Football Federation, where he had been the head coach of the Jordanian national team, Nashama, since July 2023.
During his tenure, Ammouta led Nashama to its first AFC Asian Cup final in Qatar.
He also qualified the Jordanian squad for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup finals and the third and final round of Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The Moroccan coach’s deal with AS FAR follows the club’s hard to swallow results, including losing to Raja Casablanca in the Throne Cup final and placing second in the Moroccan league, behind Raja, despite leading the tournament at various times.
AS FAR hopes to rebound from a difficult season under the leadership of their new coach, who has a track record of success at both club and international levels.
