TSJ Expands in Africa: All Routes Lead Through Morocco

Técnicas Sanjorge Company (TSJ)–specializing in the provision of services and the development of agricultural solutions—has expanded in the Kingdom thanks to the recruitment of Moroccan agronomic engineer Omar Taleb, making good on its mission to increase its presence on the African continent, reported FreshPlaza on Thursday.

Taleb has accrued over 15 years of experience in the industry, and will head the Business Development and Expansion division.

Morocco is a strategic location that will strengthen TSJ’s marketing network, enabling it to offer its customers a more efficient and responsive customer service experience, said the company’s release.

The firm explained the selection of Morocco is largely due to the contribution of approximately 14% of the country’s GDP being represented by agriculture alone, and the fact that this sector employs roughly 34.56% of the country’s working population.

However, these percentages have declined in recent years due to the expansion of other industries such as tourism and trade. Irrigated agriculture covers just 14% of the country’s cultivated land but contributes to about 60% of total agricultural production and 16% of GDP value-added. This type of agriculture accounts for around 82% of vegetable output.

Taleb stated, “Positioning the company in Africa comprises part of the Group’s global expansion strategy and is another example of our commitment to our customers’ demands.” He added, “I am delighted to introduce myself as the person responsible for leading the company’s expansion in Morocco.”

TSJ seeks to strengthen its presence in Morocco and its area of influence, where it retains growth potential. The company has focused its first phase of development on marketing new, more resistant greenhouse structures, hydroponics, and irrigation systems to increase crop productivity, conserve water, and reduce costs.

As a starting point in this new process, the company will be taking part in the SIAM 2024 international trade fair, where it will be located at the Spain Pavilion.

This is the 16th edition of the fair. The event will be held in Meknes (Morocco), from April 22-28.
