“Relations with our neighbor, friend and strategic partner are going through their best moment in decades,” wrote Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on “X” (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.
He also thanked Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, for his welcome in Rabat.
Sanchez went on to say, “With this official visit we give a boost to our cooperation in all areas and consolidate a model of constructive neighborhood based on trust and mutual respect.”
The Spanish Prime Minister landed in Rabat on an official visit on Wednesday with Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares.
Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region Governor Mohamed Yacoubi, President of the Salé Municipal Council Omar Sentissi, the Charge d’Affaires at the Spanish Embassy in Rabat Borja Montesinos, and the Moroccan Ambassador to Madrid Karima Benyaich all were present to greet Sanchez.
Sánchez’s previous official visit to Morocco took place on February 2, 2023, during which he co-chaired with his Moroccan counterpart Akhannouch the 12th high-level meeting between the two countries and signed 19 MoUs addressing a multitude of issues and topics.
