The Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health and the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) inked a comprehensive agreement on Wednesday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé that outlines a multifaceted program to improve sports medicine and athlete performance in Morocco by 2030.
The project involves building a network of healthcare facilities, including sports medical centers in Salé, Benslimane, and Tangier, as well as an African sports rehabilitation center in Dakhla. It also aims to improve the performance of sports professionals through authorized training programs and to develop a cutting-edge, anti-doping facility.
Lekjaa said the deal is significant, remarking that good health care is critical to the professional careers of athletes. He said that holding major sports championships in Morocco involves the creation of high-level sports medicine facilities.
Belyamani said that with Morocco hosting the 2030 World Cup, the partnership will establish FIFA-compliant, sports medicine facilities in various locations of the Kingdom.
Signed by Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the FRMF, and Lahcen Belyamani, President of the Mohammed VI Foundation, the agreement furthers the vision of King Mohammed VI to strengthen the symbiosis of health and sports as a critical pillar of Morocco’s growth.
