Spanish news outlet “The Objective” said that Morocco’s purchases of gas from Spain grew tremendously and shot up by 1,200%.
Spain’s Gas exportations to Morocco through the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline reached 820 gigawatt-hours (GWh) in March 2023, Spanish company “Engas” reported.
According to the company’s statistics, Morocco received 527 GWh in December, 536 GWh in January, and 680 GWh in February.
In July, Morocco also imported 172 GWh, 119 GWh in August, 123 gigawatt-hours in September, 328 GWh in October, and 553 GWh in November.
In June 2022, Spain exported -through the Tarifa international interconnection- 60 GWh.
Spain’s revenues from gas exportation are estimated at 2 million euros annually, revealed the Spanish government.
The current situation in both countries shows that trade and economic relations have improved substantially.
