Every year, Muslims celebrate the anniversary of the Prophet’s birth. This festive occasion is one of the most important religious events for Moroccans who never miss to make it memorable.
In Sale (Sla, in Arabic), Candles Convoy of Sale or more commonly called Moussem of Candles is a festival that Moroccans await with great enthusiasm. This tradition consists in candles being carried after the Asr prayer from the great market near the candlemaker’s house in an atmosphere of music, singing and drumbeat, going through the most important streets of the city to martyrs’ square and then to the honorables’ house. The celebrations continue as such a whole week.
