Morocco’s men’s national rugby sevens team claimed the silver medal on Saturday at the 10th Arab Rugby Sevens Championship, held in Alexandria, Egypt.
The Moroccan team came close to winning gold but lost to the United Arab Emirates 14-7 in the final.
The Atlas Lions reached the final after defeating Egypt 26-14 in the semifinals. They advanced to the knockout stage with wins over Palestine (45-0), Libya (45-5), and Saudi Arabia (36-5).
In the women’s competition, Tunisia earned the gold medal with a 38-0 victory over Egypt, which took silver. The UAE women’s team secured the bronze after defeating Lebanon 27-7 in the third-place play-off.
The 10th Arab Rugby Sevens Championship is the premier annual rugby competition in the MENA region.
