Morocco’s Inspector General of the Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, Mohammed Berrid, held a phone call with US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Charles Brown, on Monday to discuss military cooperation, according to Joint Chiefs of Staff.
During the call, Berrid and Brown reviewed Morocco’s role as a “regional leader” and the importance of the annual joint military exercise “African Lion.”
Brown thanked Berrid for Morocco’s “leadership” in supporting other African nations and contributing to various United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Both military leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing security cooperation efforts that will improve security in the Sahel and Maghreb regions.
“Morocco is a key partner and plays an important role in ensuring stability on the African continent,” the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs said.
