Morocco’s Speaker of the Lower House Rachid Talbi El Alami met with a parliamentary delegation from the National Assembly of The Gambia on Tuesday in Rabat, according to Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP). The delegation is in Morocco on a working visit from February 10-15.
During the meeting, Billay G. Tunkara, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Gambia’s National Assembly, said that the delegation was visiting Morocco to learn about the country’s development projects and benefit from Morocco’s experience with the parliamentary form of government.
The delegation also reaffirmed the Assembly’s support for the Royal Atlantic Initiative, commending the strong historical ties between the two countries and their shared commitment to strengthening and further developing these ties.
Talbi El Alami briefed the Gambian delegation on a number of key projects currently underway in Morocco and provided an in-depth review of the House’s functions, the country’s democratic progress, advancements in human rights, and institutional development, as well as ongoing economic and social development initiatives, MAP stated.
The Speaker also thanked Gambia for its support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.
Abdoulie Bah, the chargé d’affaires at the Embassy of Gambia in Morocco, attended the meeting.
