Moroccan police and customs officers at the El Guerguerat border crossing seized 183.2 kilograms of cocaine on Tuesday, preventing an international drug smuggling attempt, security sources said.
During the search, officers used sniffer dogs, which led to the discovery of the cocaine hidden in a custom-built compartment inside an international freight truck arriving from a sub-Saharan African country. Border police arrested the 34-year-old driver, who is suspected in connection with the case, the source said.
The suspect is now in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
