Marrakech police arrested a 40-year-old French national of Tunisian origin in the early hours of Tuesday morning at Marrakech Menara Airport, following an international arrest warrant issued by French judicial authorities, according to security sources.
The source confirmed that the arrest occurred after a routine check against Interpol’s police database which revealed the suspect was wanted internationally. The warrant, issued by French authorities, linked him to a case involving the international trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances.
The suspect has been placed under provisional detention pending extradition procedures, in line with Moroccan law and international agreements. French authorities have been formally notified to initiate the extradition process.
The arrest highlights Morocco’s ongoing efforts to combat transnational crime and strengthen international security cooperation, particularly in tracking individuals wanted for cross-border criminal activities.
