The National Police (DGSN) in Tangier arrested three Chinese nationals on Saturday for their suspected involvement in phreaking, specifically by tampering with automated data processing systems and hacking phone calls, according to a security source.
Police apprehended the suspects red-handed in the rural area of Gzenaya while hacking national telecommunications networks. They used electronic equipment to redirect international phone calls to the local network, generating profits through price differentiation.
During a search of the suspect’s residence, police seized multiple desktop and laptop computers, a large number of SIM cards, and various electronic and computing devices linked to these criminal activities.
The suspects are now in custody under the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
