Although the cease-fire remains tenuously in effect, an Israeli strike on a vehicle Sunday injured at least four Palestinians on the coastal road west of the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, Reuters reported.
Medics initially said a young boy had been killed in the strike but later confirmed they had successfully resuscitated him.
Israel’s military said one of its aircraft targeted what it described as a “suspicious vehicle” traveling toward northern Gaza, outside the designated inspection route under the ceasefire agreement.
“The IDF (Israeli military) is prepared for any scenario and will continue to take any necessary actions to thwart any immediate threat to IDF soldiers,” it said, but did not provide any details on the threat, the damage, or casualties, according to Reuters.
Since the start of the ceasefire exactly two weeks ago and amid an ongoing hostage exchange between Hamas and Israel, Israeli strikes have killed multiple Palestinians. Israel has defended its actions in general terms, typically asserting it opened fire on “suspicious” figures, sometimes armed, who allegedly “posed a threat” to Israeli forces stationed in parts of Gaza under the ceasefire deal.
