Moroccan tennis players Lina Bezza and Sofia Hadab won the U18 African doubles championship held on Friday in Cairo, according to Morocoo’s Press Agency (MAP).
Bezza and Hadab defeated Egypt’s Jian Ibrahim and Judy Tawila in a close three-set match, 6-7, 6-3, 10-8.
In the singles, Morocco will compete in both the boys’ and girls’ finals. Amine Jamji reached the boys’ final after beating Egypt’s Seifelden Samih 6-4, 6-3. He will face South Africa’s Connor Doig, the tournament’s second seed.
Meanwhile, Lina Bezza advanced to the girls’ final by defeating top-seeded Algerian Maria Badache 6-0, 6-2. She will play South Africa’s Jahnie Van Zyl for the championship.
Sponsored by the International Tennis Federation, the U18 African Championships (J200) took place from January 27 to February 1 and included around 60 players from across the continent.
