Moroccan tennis player Amine Jamji won the African Tennis Championships by winning the U18 title, while Lina Bezza also claimed her second championship title after a successful double victory on Friday, according to the Royal Moroccan Tennis Federation.
Jamji triumphed in the men’s final on Saturday in Cairo, defeating South Africa’s Connor Doig, the second seed, in straight sets (6-2, 6-4).
To reach the final, Jamji had previously overcome Egypt’s Seifelden Samih in two sets (6-4, 6-3).
On the women’s category, Bezza secured the African U18 Championship title on Saturday in Cairo, beating South Africa’s Jahnie Van Zyl in straight sets (6-2, 6-2).
Bezza reached the final after a dominant victory over Algeria’s Maria Badache, winning 6-0, 6-2.
In addition to her singles success, Bezza was also crowned doubles champion along with her compatriot Sofia Hadab. The Moroccan duo triumphed in a thrilling final against the Egyptian pair Jian Ibrahim and Judy Tawila, winning 5-7, 6-3, 10-8.
The U18 African Championships (J200) took place from January 27 to February 1 under the International Tennis Federation, with around 60 players from across Africa participating.
