Yemen’s Foreign Minister, Shayea Mohsen Al-Zindani, reiterated his country’s “unwavering support” for Morocco’s territorial integrity on Thursday at a meeting in Rabat with Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch , Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
Al-Zindani highlighted Yemen’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara. Any resolution of the dispute must “respect Morocco’s territorial integrity,” he said.
Akhannouch expressed Morocco’s appreciation for Yemen’s position on that score and for supporting the Moroccan identity of the Sahara.
In parallel, he affirmed Morocco’s support for Yemen’s unity, stability, and sovereignty, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to standing by Yemen during its current challenges.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic ties and private sector initiatives. Both sides expressed their commitment to enhancing relations under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council Chairman, Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi.
Al-Zindani described the visit as an opportunity to open new horizons for Morocco-Yemen relations despite Yemen’s current challenges. He also highlighted plans to sign several agreements intended to increase collaboration between the two nations. The Yemeni minister also expressed optimism about the visit’s outcomes, noting that the talks reviewed shared interests and explored ways to deepen economic partnerships.
With both countries reaffirming their mutual support on key regional and international issues, the meeting underscored the strong diplomatic ties between Morocco and Yemen.
