The National Commission for the Protection of Personal Data (CNDP) held a conference on Thursday in Casablanca to follow up on the progress of the “Koun3labal” (Be Aware) platform dedicated to protecting the digital privacy of youth launched in December 2022, according to Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP).
“Koun3labal” offers guides, best practices, and educational materials in various media and artistic formats, such as illustrations, videos, and educational games, to raise awareness about the risks associated with sharing personal data in the digital space.
During the conference, speakers outlined the goals of the digital platform. The launch of the platform is primarily aimed at children and adolescents aged 7 to 18, the event explained how to access and use its features.
The speakers noted that the platform acts as a virtual school, educating children, adolescents, and women about the dangers of the digital world and its impact on their privacy. They added that the platform should enhance awareness among target populations, promote research on digital privacy protection, and ensure the secure handling of personal data for children, adolescents, and women.
The platform also aims to provide civil society organizations and relevant stakeholders with tools for awareness and education while encouraging the involvement of children and adolescents in creating educational content through artistic workshops, competitions, and a dedicated space for young people.
CNDP hosted the conference under a series of awareness activities held during the “Personal Data Protection and Privacy Week,” which runs from January 27 to 31.
Several themes are being discussed during the week, including “The Role of Personal Data Protection in Strengthening Constitutional Values,” “The Role of Personal Data Protection in Promoting Investment,” and “Fundamental Principles of Personal Data Protection in the Healthcare Sector.”
