Spanish children’s fashion group Mayoral expanded its presence in Morocco by launching a new subsidiary in Tangier on Wednesday. The company, already operates 20 retail outlets in Morocco, and intends to strengthen its foothold in a growing market.
The Tangier-based subsidiary is strategically located just 60 kilometers from the Spanish port of Algeciras. This proximity enhances logistics, speeding up import and export operations between Spain and Morocco.
“Morocco is a young country with a steady birth rate and an expanding middle class,” said Oumnia Zekri, director of the subsidiary. “These factors are driving demand for children’s clothing, and we are here to meet that demand with a tailored offering.”
Mayoral plans to expand further, opening stores in cities where the brand has no presence. The company aims to strengthen its position in both the local and international markets.
Mayoral has operated in Morocco since the 1980s through distributors. The new subsidiary marks a shift toward direct market share.
The company has built a strong international presence, with 75% of its revenue coming from sales outside Spain. It operates 20 commercial subsidiaries and five production units, selling its products in over 100 countries through a mix of company-owned stores, franchises, and digital platforms.
In 2023, Mayoral recorded evenue of EUR 400 million and sold 31 million items. Its expansion in Morocco is part of its long-term strategy of reinforcing global market presence.
