Marrakech has set a new Guinness World Record with an 80-hour and 35-minute storytelling marathon in Jemaa El-Fna square; the city’s cultural heart during the International Storytelling Festival showcased traditional non-stop tales relayed by storytellers , captivating audiences and celebrating Morocco’s rich oral heritage.
Organized under the theme “Al Bahja” (The Joyful), the festival highlighted Marrakech’s role as a guardian of intangible cultural heritage. For five days, the city transformed into an open-air stage where Moroccan and international artists shared stories passed down through generations.
The marathon drew both local and international crowds, reinforcing Marrakech’s global appeal. Beyond the record, the festival featured interactive workshops, conferences, and performances, blending tradition with modernity.
