Following Hala’s resignation, the club’s committee confirmed that the presidency would be vacant until the next general assembly, scheduled for February 5 at the club’s headquarters. The announcement was made in a separate post published on the same day.
Hala’s departure comes at a challenging time for Raja. The club is currently ranked 8th in the Botola Pro league, with just 24 points from 18 matches this season. This marks a stark contrast to last year’s stellar performance, where Raja won both the Botola Pro title without a single defeat and the Throne Cup.
This season, Raja has recorded six wins, six draws, and six losses.
Adil Hala was unanimously elected as club president during a general assembly in Casablanca last year. Previously serving as the interim president, Hala’s four-year term was intended to focus on strengthening the squad and addressing recruitment restrictions.
The club has also faced significant off-field controversies. The Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) dismissed former president Mohamed Boudrika from its board for repeated absences, citing Article 27 of its statutes to uphold governance standards.
Boudrika, a polarizing figure in Raja’s history, is under investigation in Germany for allegations of embezzlement, forgery, and other offenses. In March, he received a suspended one-year prison sentence for issuing illegitimate checks and was fined MAD 232,500 by a court in Casablanca. His prolonged absence also led to his dismissal as head of Casablanca’s Mers Sultan district for obstructing essential services.
The club now faces an uncertain future as it navigates leadership changes and seeks to reclaim its position as a dominant force in Moroccan football.
