The dismantling of the terrorist cell in Had Soualem shows Morocco’s relentless commitment to combating terrorism, the Director of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), Cherkaoui Habboub said on Sunday.
His statement comes a few hours following an operation that led to the arrest of four suspects affiliated with ISIS, in Had Soualem, in northwestern Morocco. He attributed the successful operation to the coordinated efforts of the Territorial Surveillance Agency (DGST) and its specialized units.
DGST special forces executed the raid with precision, using snipers, aerial surveillance from a Royal Gendarmerie helicopter, and support from explosives experts and trained police dogs.
They seized large quantities of suspicious substances, bladed weapons, and liquids, Habboub confirmed, noting that these materials are under analysis at the National Laboratory of Scientific and Technical Police.
Habboub confirmed that the four suspects, including three brothers, are still in custody as investigators look into their potential national and international connections.
