The Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced Saturday that meningitis vaccines are mandatory for individuals traveling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah or visits to Islamic holy sites.
The vaccines are available in pharmacies nationwide.
Pilgrims must purchase the vaccine from pharmacies and visit an authorized health center for vaccination and certification.
The Pasteur Institute’s Serum and Vaccine Center also provides vaccination services.
Travelers must get vaccinated at least ten days before departure and present a valid vaccination certificate.
Exemptions apply to children under one year old and individuals vaccinated within the last five years with supporting documentation.
Saudi health authorities have mandated meningitis vaccinations starting February 1, 2025, for all visitors entering the kingdom to protect public health.
Moroccan authorities urge citizens to comply with these requirements. For details on designated health centers, the ministry directs citizens to its website: [www.sante.gov.ma](https://www.sante.gov.ma/Pages/Certificat-International-Vaccination.aspx).
