Police in Ksar El Kébir, northwest Morocco, arrested a 64-year-old man and his 31-year-old son on Thursday on suspicion of running a fraudulent scheme involving false promises of recruitment into the police force and other official roles, local media reported.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspects allegedly scammed several victims, coercing them into paying sums ranging from MAD 20,000 to 50,000.
These payments were supposedly in exchange for facilitating the scam victims’ integration into the national police or other positions of authority.
Both suspects are currently in custody as part of an official investigation.
Authorities are currently seeking to identify additional victims who may have been targeted by the scheme.
