Morocco’s Police Services (DGSN) in Ouarzazate, in coordination with the Territorial Surveillance Agency (DGST), arrested two individuals on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in a fraudulent immigration scheme targeting potential migrants, according to a security source.
The suspects allegedly defrauded six individuals by taking money from them as advance payments in exchange for fake job contracts.
After investigation and several searches, the authorities, in coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie, apprehended the suspects in the rural area of “Ait Addi Bouleman,” near the city of Kelâat M’Gouna. Police seized a passport, photocopies of two false identity cards using other people’s names, a copy of a diploma, and money transfer receipts suspected of being linked to criminal activities, the source added.
The suspects are currently in custody for further questioning, pending further investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
