Moroccan authorities have extradited the alleged leader of Marseille’s notorious “Mafia Yoda” gang, Félix Bingui, to France following his arrest in response to an international arrest warrant issued by French authorities.
Bingui, also known as “Le Chat” (the cat), was expected to arrive in France on Wednesday, local media reported. The suspect is wanted for multiple crimes, including leading criminal networks involved in international drug trafficking.
Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) arrested the 34-year-old in Casablanca in March 2024, following a multi-stage operation including identifying, tracking, and arresting the suspect.
Former French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin publicly commended the Moroccan authorities for their efforts. In a post on the social media platform X, Darmanin described Bingui as “one of Marseille’s most significant drug traffickers” and highlighted Morocco’s collaboration in his arrest.
