The Confederation of African Football (CAF) highlighted Morocco’s selection as the host nation of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), reflecting the country’s track record in successfully hosting major international football events.
In a report entitled “TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025: Everything you need to know,” CAF underscored Morocco’s positive reputation in football, noting that “Morocco’s selection as the host for AFCON 2025 is no surprise given the country’s recent track record in successfully hosting major international football events.”
In 2018 Morocco hosted the African Nations Championship (CHAN) the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2023.
CAF said that Morocco has displayed “its capacity to organize and deliver world-class football tournaments.”
Looking ahead to the 2025 tournament, CAF expressed high expectations for Morocco’s hosting of the sporting event, which is both a tournament and “a celebration of African football.”
