Head of Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance Agency (DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, met with Salman Chaudhry, Acting Inspector General of Police at Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior, on Monday in Rabat, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
During the meeting, Hammouchi and Chaudhry discussed various aspects of bilateral security cooperation, including combating illegal migration networks and human trafficking, following a tragic incident in which several Pakistani citizens lost their lives in a migrant boat capsize near the shores of Dakhla.
The Pakistani official expressed gratitude on behalf of Pakistan’s leadership, thanking Moroccan authorities and public services that participated in rescue efforts to protect Pakistani citizens caught in the recent irregular immigration attempt.
Both parties discussed the growing threat of terrorism and the importance of strengthening cooperation to address this issue, especially given the geographical proximity of both countries to regions of conflict where groups such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS are active.
This visit underscores the importance of the strong security partnership between Morocco and Pakistan, both of which are key players in the global fight against terrorism and transnational organized crime, according to the same source.
