Mauritania’s Ministry of Interior has provisionally awarded a contract for the collection and transportation of solid waste from Nouakchott to the Technical Landfill Center (CET) of Moroccan company SOS NDD, according to a Ministry news release issued Wednesday.
Based in Casablanca, SOS NDD won the deal for a total of 750,047,996 ouguiyas, equivalent to approximately 20.55 million Moroccan dirhams. The project is financed by the Mauritanian state.
The tender process which closed on December 31, 2024, attracted six bidders. Once the contract is finalized, SOS NDD will have one year to implement the project.
In accordance with applicable regulations, a five-working-day appeal period is now open, allowing unsuccessful bidders to challenge the decision before the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority.
The initiative is part of Nouakchott’s ongoing efforts to improve its management of solid waste, a key priority for the Mauritanian capital.
