Morocco’s Ministry of the Interior, in coordination with other government agencies and stakeholders, has launched an emergency response plan to assist citizens facing harsh winter conditions in rural regions of the country.
The initiative aims to assist approximately 872,778 individuals from 169,134 households in 2,014 villages across 241 municipalities in 28 provinces.
Local authorities have been directed to closely monitor the situation, coordinate intervention efforts, and implement proactive measures to alleviate the impact of the severe weather on vulnerable communities, according to local media reports.
To ensure an effective response, the Ministry has activated a command and alert center. Special attention is being given to residents in areas previously affected by earthquakes and floods.
These measures are part of a comprehensive national plan for the 2024-2025 winter season, which has been expanded to include an additional 185 villages.
