Germany and Morocco have signed a declaration to establish a joint Morocco-Germany working group focused on enhancing cooperation in agriculture and food production.
Ahmed El Bouari, Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, and Forests, and Cem Özdemir, Germany’s Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, announced the agreement during a meeting on Saturday at the 89th Green Week in Berlin, running from January 17 to 26.
In a statement to Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP), Özdemir commended the “strong and amicable partnership between Morocco and Germany, grounded in equality” and lauded the collaboration between the two nations’ agricultural ministries.
Özdemir expressed his optimism about elevating Moroccan-German relations to a “higher level” and advancing together to tackle shared challenges, including climate change, water resource management, and support for farmers.
The creation of the joint working group comes at a crucial time, Özdemir noted, as both countries face similar challenges in their agricultural sectors. He underpinned the importance of exchanging expertise and building a collaborative future, the same source stated.
