Aimee Cutrona, a member of the United States Senior Foreign Service, has officially taken on the role of Charge d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Morocco, according to a statement from the US Embassy in Morocco on Sunday.
She succeeds Ambassador Puneet Talwar, whose tenure concluded on January 19 after more than two years of service in the Kingdom.
Cutrona previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Rabat since July 2022. Prior to her appointment in Morocco, she held senior roles in Washington, D.C., including Deputy Assistant Secretary for Levant Affairs and Director of the Office of Levant Affairs at the Department of State. From 2016 to 2019, she was the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Bahrain.
A diplomat since 1999, Cutrona has extensive experience, with postings in Addis Ababa, El Salvador, Qatar, Egypt, and several offices in Washington, D.C.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Smith College and a master’s in International Relations and Conflict Management from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
