Abdellatif Loudiyi, Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, met on Friday with Janine Tatiana Santos Lelis, Minister of State for National Defense of the Republic of Cape Verde to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.
Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, and a high-ranking delegation from Cape Verde and the country’s ambassador to Rabat attended the meeting.
Discussions focused on various aspects of collaboration and ways to strengthen them, particularly in areas of shared interest such as exchanging military expertise and experience, according to a statement from the National Defense Administration, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
Loudiyi highlighted Morocco’s efforts to promote regional stability and security, highlighting the Royal Initiative launched by King Mohammed VI, which seeks to transform the African Atlantic coast into a hub of economic integration and a zone of peace and shared prosperity, including countries along the Atlantic and the Sahel regions.
Santos Lelis underscored the strategic importance of the partnership with Morocco. She expressed admiration for the numerous South-South cooperation initiatives, which have significantly benefited Africa in terms of development and stability.
Both parties expressed a shared commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations through the upcoming finalization and signing of a military cooperation agreement.
