Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita stated Morocco welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, noting that it aligns with King Mohammed VI’s vision, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in numerous speeches since the onset of the crisis.
Bourita noted that Morocco is closely monitoring the recent developments of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and hostage release agreement in Gaza.
Bourita highlighted that King Mohammed VI has repeatedly called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, which must be verifiable, paving the way for comprehensive and lasting de-escalation that would lead to political solutions to the crisis.
The minister highlighted that the stance reflects Morocco’s unwavering commitment to supporting stability and peace in the region.
Bourita underlined the significance of the agreement in protecting civilians and halting hostilities that have caused significant loss of life and destruction. He stated that the ceasefire is a critical step toward ending the violence and fostering peace, while also opening opportunities for humanitarian efforts.
He also pointed out the need to increase humanitarian aid to Palestinians and ensure its sustainable delivery to mitigate the ongoing crisis.
The minister expressed Morocco’s hope that the ceasefire will contribute to reconstructing Gaza and create conditions for displaced residents to return home swiftly. He stressed the importance of restoring normal life and achieving stability in the region.
Bourita also noted that the ceasefire represents a fundamental step toward broader regional stability, offering a chance to rebuild trust among stakeholders and explore new political horizons for resolving the Middle East conflict.
Highlighting King Mohammed VI’s leadership as Chair of the Al-Quds Committee, Bourita reiterated Morocco’s commitment to transitioning from crisis management to comprehensive peacebuilding.
He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s unwavering support for a two-state solution, with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in peace along with Israel.
Bourita concluded by underscoring the need for all parties to honor the terms of the ceasefire agreement to ensure its success. He reiterated Morocco’s steadfast dedication to advancing peace, stability, and the resolution of the Palestinian cause—a priority that remains central to Morocco’s foreign policy.
