Last year, international construction company Jan De Nul Group successfully completed the construction of a new deep-water port in Nador, northern Morocco. Strategically located and fitted with state-of-the-art infrastructure, the port is poised to become a key driver of economic development in the region, according to “Dredging Today.”
Situated on the western side of the “Cap des Trois Fourches” peninsula near Nador city, the port benefits from proximity to major East-West shipping routes, facilitating containerized goods and the transportation of oil and gas products across the Mediterranean.
Since 2016, Jan De Nul Group has utilized an extensive fleet of dredging vessels to clear over 26 million m³ of material, making the construction of this vital infrastructure possible.
The completed complex includes a deep-water port designed to support the development of an energy hub, with capabilities for handling, packaging, and storing hydrocarbons and derivatives, alongside facilities for container transshipment and bulk product processing.
The build also features an integrated platform and free trade zone aimed at attracting global investors and accommodating internationally active companies, all supported by the port’s advanced infrastructure.
Jan De Nul Group is a family-owned company, originally from Belgium, with its financial headquarters in Luxembourg. The group’s four main activities are Offshore Energy, Dredging Solutions, Construction Projects and Planet Redevelopment.
