Moroccan courts adjudicated 4,466,727 cases in 2024, representing a stunning 103% of the number of cases filed during the year and 88.5% of all cases pending in the court system, the President of Morocco’s Judicial Council (CSPJ), M’hammed Abdenabaoui, announced on Wednesday in Rabat.
In a speech at the opening of the 2025 judicial year, Abdennabaoui stated that the total number of pending court cases in the Kingdom was 5,052,086 in 2024. He noted the dismission of 142,760 pending cases, bringing the total down to 577,851.
Abdennabaoui further highlighted that the number of pending cases before the Court decreased by 9% from 2023 to 2024, dropping from 51,247 at the end of 2023 to 46,549 in 2024.
Abdennabaoui asserted that the High Judicial Council is committed to enhancing its online services for legal professionals and increasing the publication of legal texts and studies. The Council’s online portal, he noted, has attracted nearly 13 million visitors from 130 countries.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, the High Judicial Council has been implementing a digital transformation plan for the judicial system. Preparations are also underway to develop software that will allow judges to print and sign rulings electronically.
He also highlighted the Council’s focus on the ethical conduct of the judiciary, with various awareness and training initiatives led by the Council’s Ethics Commission.
Abdenabaoui also said that in 2024, the first phase of the CSPJ’s strategic plan to guide judicial associations was successfully completed. “The Council is collaborating with the professional associations of judges to create a reference document for communication between judicial associations and judicial institutions,” he said.
