Highlighting the “special” nature of his country’s relations with Morocco as a friend and neighbor, Spain’s King Felipe VI called for ties to be strengthened even further.
“We will continue to advance our bilateral agenda with Morocco, a country with which we must maintain collaboration in the spirit of friendship and cooperation that governs our special neighboring relations,” he said in a speech at the 9th Conference of accredited Ambassadors to Spain held on January 13–14.
King Felipe VI noted the importance of strategic alliances in Spain’s foreign policy, particularly within forums such as the 5+5 Dialogue and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).
He pointed out that Moroccan-Spanish alliances play a key in bolstering regional cooperation and providing coordinated solutions to shared challenges.
King Felipe VI also underlined the need to consolidate cooperation with the entire African continent, commending the new Spain-Africa 2025–2028 strategy, which he described as a “clear roadmap” to accomplish that.
