A severe cold wave is expected to grip several provinces in Morocco, with temperatures plunging between -8°C and 9°C from Wednesday to Friday, according to an amber alert issued by the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM).
Snowfall is also projected at locations in high altitudes exceeding 1,400 meters from Friday to Saturday.
Temperatures will range from -8°C to -2°C in Ifrane, Boulemane, Sefrou, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Khenifra, Al Haouz, Figuig, Chichaoua, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Midelt, and Taroudant should brace for icy temperatures. In these areas, daytime highs scrape 6°C.
Other regions, including Jerada, Taourirt, Guercif, Taza, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Zagora, Errachidia, Tiznit, and Tata, will experience slightly milder but still cold conditions. Temperatures there will range from -4°C to 1°C at night and climb to a maximum of 9°C during the day.
Urban areas like Oujda-Angad, Driouch, El Hajeb, Khemisset, Khouribga, Fquih Ben Salah, Casablanca, and several others in the central and coastal regions will see nighttime temperatures between -1°C and 4°C, with daytime highs reaching up to 9°C.
Snowfall ranging from 15 to 30 centimeters will blanket high-altitude areas in Al Hoceima, Guercif, Taourirt, Figuig, Jerada, Boulemane, Sefrou, Ifrane, Taza, and Midelt from Friday to Saturday.
