Morocco’s Territory Surveillance Agency (DGST) in collaboration with police in Agadir arrested four individuals on Sunday on suspicion of their involvement in drug trafficking, possession of psychotropic substances, and organizing irregular migration, local media reported.
According to security sources, two suspects were apprehended at the entrance point of Agadir after arriving in a refrigerated truck from northern Morocco. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 155 grams of cocaine and two outboard boat engines believed to be intended for irregular migration by sea.
Further investigation into the primary suspect’s residence in Dcheira, southern Morocco, uncovered additional evidence, including quantities of a white powder currently being analyzed, a digital scale, and financial transfer receipts suspected to be linked to criminal activity. Subsequent inquiries identified two additional suspects in the Moroccan city of Inezgane, where police seized a large knife in their possession.
A background check revealed that one of the suspects was flagged with two national arrest warrants issued by the Royal Gendarmerie and police in Settat and Inezgane. These warrants pertain to allegations of financial and economic crimes, as well as a hit-and-run incident.
Authorities have placed the suspects under police custody under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office awaiting the results of an investigation to determine the scale of the criminal operation.
