Morocco will participate in the fourth Future Minerals Forum (FMF), scheduled from January 14 to 16, 2025, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Leïla Benali, Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition, will represent the Kingdom in the forum.
The FMF, which will bring together over 85 governments and 50 ministers, aims to address ways to strengthen the global supply chain of minerals while ensuring sustainability and development.
Under the presidency of Saudi Arabia, the FMF has become a key event for policymakers and industry leaders in the mining sector. Through its participation, Morocco seeks to contribute significantly to shaping international initiatives in responsible mineral governance.
One of the forum’s central themes will be the establishment of centers of excellence in the “Super Region,” covering Africa, Central, and Western Asia. Morocco has been selected to lead the development of a center focused on sustainability. This center will play a crucial role in promoting responsible mining practices and the preservation of natural resources.
This recognition highlights Morocco’s global commitment to sustainable development. By collaborating with countries like South Africa on talent development and Saudi Arabia on technological innovation, the kingdom will help shape the future of the mining industry.
The FMF discussions will also evaluate progress in critical mineral governance, supply chain transparency, and the integration of local communities into mining development.
