Morocco has completed the final stretch of the 1,055 km Tiznit-Dakhla highway, boosting economic development and connectivity in the southern region, according to media reports.
The highway, which took 10 years to complete, includes a key 114-kilometer section connecting El Maader, near Tiznit, to Guelmim, passing through Sidi Ifni.
The completion of this ultra-modern road, overseen by Dakhla Invest, marks a strategic step forward in the region’s economic development.
While the final portion of the highway was finished in November 2024, authorities decided to keep it closed for a few more months to finalize the installation of signposts and complete the last touches.
The massive project aims to enhance connectivity and accessibility between the coastal areas of the south and the central Morocco, serving as a vital artery for transporting goods and passengers.
With the highway now fully operational, it is expected to boost economic exchanges and integrate the Saharan regions into Morocco’s national economy.
The infrastructure is a key element in the development of the Dakhla region, in line with Morocco’s sustainable development goals.
