Morocco will highlight its vibrant traditions and cultural contributions during the World Day for African and Afro-descendant Culture at UNESCO headquarters on January 24 in Paris, the organizers announced.
The Kingdom will present a dynamic program celebrating its traditions and culture.
Morocco’s participation will include a panelist representing African youth and multiple activities such as debates, cultural performances, and tastings of traditional African cuisine.
The event is centered around celebrating African and Afro-descendant cultures, mobilizing the diaspora to renew Pan-Africanism, promoting global recognition of the day, and fostering culture as a unifying force for universal solidarity.
Established by UNESCO in November 2019 during its 40th General Conference, the World Day of African and Afro-descendant Culture followed a resolution introduced by Togo, with support from several member states, including Morocco.
Morocco has been a vocal supporter of the initiative. In 2023, Rabat hosted a series of commemorative activities, including the presentation of the KEKELI Prize, which honors individuals who promote cultural exchange and peace.
The 2025 celebration is expected to attract widespread participation and further highlight the role of culture in fostering global unity and mutual understanding, according to the organizers.
