National Police (DGSN) officers stationed at Bab Sebta crossing in northeastern Morocco detained a 19-year-old Swedish national on Thursday, against whom authorities in Stockholm issued an international arrest warrant, local media reported.
The individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, is suspected of being involved in the illegal possession of military-grade firearms for criminal activities.
After verifying the Interpol database, the police identified the individual as the subject of a “red notice” issued at the behest of Stockholm’s National Central Bureau.
He was remanded into police custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
The Interpol Bureau in Morocco has informed the relevant Swedish authorities of the French national’s detention to initiate extradition procedures.
