Morocco urged the development of a unified Arab strategy to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into education and training systems on Tuesday during the 14th Conference of Arab Ministers of Education held in Doha, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, underscored the need to establish AI as a pivotal tool for enhancing education, training, and scientific research.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by the ministry’s Secretary General, Younes Shimi, Berrada highlighted the importance of making AI accessible, effective, and adaptable to the needs of Arab societies.
Berrada outlined Morocco’s ongoing efforts to gradually integrate AI into education, including its application to combat school dropouts and improve academic performance.
He noted that teacher training and capacity building are key areas where AI can help personalize education and strengthen teachers skills.
The minister also elaborated on Morocco’s broader educational reforms, such as the “2022-2026 Roadmap for Quality Public Schools for All.” Central to this initiative is the “Pioneering Schools” project, which aims to establish a new public school model focused on high-quality learning and innovative pedagogical methods, MAP noted.
Berrada comended the sustained efforts of King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, to support the Palestinian people. He lauded the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, the Committee’s executive arm, for its developmental projects in the Holy City, particularly in education, science, and culture.
The minister also highlighted Morocco’s contributions to African cooperation, noting the creation of the African Institute for Lifelong Learning in 2024.
