Morocco’s green passport has climbed to 69th globally in the latest ranking by Henley & Partners, a company specializing in evaluating international travel documents.
The ranking is based on the number of visa-free destinations accessible with the passport. Moroccan passport holders now have access to 73 countries without requiring a prior visa. According to the institute’s data, this marks a significant improvement over previous years. Last year it ranked 71st. In 2022 and 2023, it ranked 78th and 80th, respectively.
Regionally in the Maghreb, the Moroccan passport leads in travel document power, surpassing the Tunisian passport, ranking 73rd with access to 69 visa-free destinations. It is followed by the Mauritanian passport ranked 84th, the Algerian passport at 86th, and the Libyan passport at 100th.
Globally, the Singaporean passport maintains its top spot in the rankings. That passport grants access to 195 destinations visa-free. It is followed by the Japanese passport, allowing travel to 193 countries without prior formalities. In third place are passports from Finland, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, and Spain, each offering access to 192 destinations.
At the bottom of the list, the Afghan passport ranks last at 106th, providing visa-free access to just 26 destinations. It is preceded by the Syrian passport at 105th and the Iraqi passport at 104th. The Yemeni and Pakistani passports share the 103rd position.
In the Arab world, the United Arab Emirates’ passport stands out as the most powerful, ranked 10th globally, allowing travel to 181 destinations visa-free. It is followed by the Qatari passport at 47th, with access to 112 countries, and the Kuwaiti passport at 50th.
The Moroccan passport opens doors to numerous countries, particularly in Africa, thanks to strengthened political, economic, and trade partnerships. It also grants access to several nations in Asia, the Caribbean, and Latin America, further extending its international reach. The most recent African country to grant visa-free access to Morocco is Ghana.
