President-elect Donald Trump, along with four former U.S. Presidents and their spouses, joined President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and their spouses at the funeral of Ex-President Jimmy Carter, held at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
Speakers remembered Carter as a man who put faith, honesty, and kindness above politics.
Fellow Democratic President Biden celebrated Carter’s life, saying that it was “the story of a man who never let the tides of politics divert him from his mission to serve and shape the world,” Reuters reported.
“The man had character,” Biden said. “He showed us how character and faith start with ourselves and then flow to others.”
Funerals are among the few events that bring members of the Presidents’ club together.
Carter grew up in Plains, Georgia, as a peanut farmer. From 1971 until 1975, he was the governor of that state. He also received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his humanitarian efforts.
