Global technology company “Meta” has appointed three new members to its board of directors, including President and CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Dana White, a longtime friend of US President-elect Donald Trump, CNN reported.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Monday the new members of his company’s board of directors, which include automotive industry giant John Elkann, former Microsoft Executive Charlie Songhurst, and White.
“Dana, John, and Charlie will add a depth of expertise and perspective that will help us tackle the massive opportunities ahead with [artificial intelligence], wearables, and the future of human connection,” Zuckerberg said.
White said it was his long-term desire to join Meta’s board of directors, being a “huge believer that social media and AI are the future.”
“I am very excited to join this incredible team and to learn more about this business from the inside. There is nothing I love more than building brands, and I look forward to helping take Meta to the next level,” White said in a statement.
Meta’s addition of White could be seen as Zuckerberg’s motion to improve ties with Trump, who was once banned from Facebook, which is owned by Meta.
After Trump’s landslide victory over Kamala Harris, Zuckerberg was seen dining at the President-elect’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. Meta also contributed to fund Trump’s campaign through a USD 1 million donation to his inauguration fund.
