Winter Storm “Blair” disrupted more than 10,300 flights on Monday, as one of the harshest snowstorms of the year swept across the Central and Midwest regions of the US, Forbes reported.
At least 1,727 flights were canceled, and 3,233 others were delayed on Monday, arriving or departing the US, according to “FlightAware,” a flight tracking app.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued warnings on Friday about strong winds, snowfall, and icy conditions potentially disrupting travel across the northeastern US and the mid-Atlantic region.
The blizzard dumped nearly 30 centimeters (12 inches) of snow on Washington, D.C., and its surrounding areas and forced the closure of federal buildings, administrative offices, and schools across the broader capital region.
US authorities declared a state of emergency in several states, including Kansas, Kentucky, Arkansas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
